Assistant General Manager

About the position

The Assistant General Manager at the Courtyard Gulfport Beachfront Hotel plays a crucial role in overseeing hotel operations, ensuring high standards of guest service, and assisting the General Manager in financial and operational planning. This position requires strong organizational and communication skills, along with a focus on employee development to enhance guest satisfaction.

Responsibilities

• Assist the General Manager in developing short and long-term financial and operational plans for the guest service department.
• Facilitate department meetings to ensure effective communication throughout all hotel departments.
• Participate in the preparation of the annual hotel budget.
• Increase guest satisfaction levels by delivering exceptional service through employee development.
• Directly oversee hotel operations including guest satisfaction, breakfast service, front desk, housekeeping, and engineering.
• Meet or exceed budgeted payroll standards in hotel operations departments.
• Establish and maintain cost control systems for monthly ordering in relation to the checkbook.
• Review the reservation function to maintain high room occupancy and average daily rates through suggestive selling.
• Maintain procedures for credit control, financial transactions, and guest security.
• Respond to and resolve guest requests, complaints, or questions in a courteous and timely manner.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of experience in hotel operations management.
• Comprehensive knowledge of all hotel departments and functions.
• Knowledge of applicable Federal, state, and local health, safety, and legal regulations.
• Exceptional mathematical and computer skills.
• High school education and relevant training and experience required; additional education preferred.
• Ability to timely obtain any required licenses or certificates.
• CPR training required; first aid training preferred.
