About the position

The Assistant General Manager plays a crucial role in supporting the General Manager in overseeing the daily operations of the front-of-house in a restaurant setting. This position involves ensuring high standards of hospitality, cleanliness, and compliance with health regulations while managing staff and contributing to the overall guest experience.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the General Manager in leading daily front-of-house operations.
  • Interact with guests and staff to ensure excellent hospitality.
  • Maintain cleanliness and professional appearance standards.
  • Assist in interviewing, hiring, and training new employees.
  • Manage scheduling and employee development for front-of-house staff.
  • Work with the General Manager to create job performance reviews.
  • Ensure quality, safety, and efficiency in front-of-house operations.
  • Possess knowledge of operational systems, including payroll and POS functions.
  • Review monthly Profit & Loss statements with the General Manager.
  • Ensure compliance with health and sanitation standards.
  • Coach and develop front-of-house employees with clear guidelines.
  • Ensure all mechanical systems are compliant with regulations.
  • Resolve guest and employee concerns effectively.
  • Reconcile end-of-shift financials accurately.
  • Communicate effectively with heart-of-house employees during service.
  • Complete all opening and closing procedures as prescribed.
  • Lead daily pre-service meetings and training sessions.
  • Portray a positive and professional attitude while working as part of a team.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of previous hospitality experience as an Assistant General Manager, Restaurant Manager, or senior manager in a high-volume setting.
  • Two-year associate degree in Hospitality, Business, or equivalent work experience preferred.
  • Strong guest service foundation and leadership skills required.
  • Demonstrated financial acumen with P&L statements and labor models.
  • Organized, self-motivated, and proactive with attention to detail.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Products, POS, and technology.
  • Ability to stand, lift, and bend for extended periods, including lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with PCI/DSS and Alcohol Awareness training.
  • Knowledge of food handling and gaming registration (where applicable).
