About the position

The Assistant General Manager at Ritchie Station Residence Inn by Marriott is responsible for overseeing hotel operations, ensuring adherence to policies, and providing exceptional service to guests. This role involves managing staff, conducting training, and handling guest complaints, while also supporting the General Manager in various administrative and operational tasks. Responsibilities

  • Assign duties to staff and observe performance to ensure adherence to hotel policies and established operating procedures.
  • Provide training, including brand-specific and safety training, to all team members.
  • Select or assist in the selection of hotel staff and complete all new hire paperwork.
  • Review employee performance and conduct personnel actions such as disciplinary actions and terminations.
  • Maintain accurate records including cash flow sheets, direct bill accounts, credit card receipts, registration cards, reservations cards, and direct bills.
  • Conduct or assist in conducting staff meetings.
  • Adhere to all franchise and company procedures and regulations as well as standard operating procedures.
  • Receive and resolve or assist in resolving guest complaints and employee issues.
  • Perform functions of the General Manager in their absence.
  • Cover shifts in all departments as scheduled by the General Manager.
  • Correspond with group and travel agents to answer special requests for rooms and rates.
  • Assist with sales and marketing efforts as directed.
  • Answer inquiries pertaining to hotel policies and services.
  • Assist General Manager in annual wage scale surveys; ensure employee wages follow wage and salary guidelines.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Preferably 1+ year of similar experience in Select Service or Extended Stay properties.
  • Brand experience preferred.
  • Knowledgeable in inventories, scheduling, and ordering.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Open availability.
  • Education preferred of Associate's degree or equivalent from a two-year college, or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
