About the position

The Assistant General Manager at Mercy Me is a pivotal role within the hospitality team, responsible for ensuring exceptional service and operational excellence in a dynamic South American inspired restaurant, bar, and lounge. This position involves training staff, maintaining service standards, and fostering positive customer relationships while promoting the core values of the establishment.

Responsibilities

• Promotes the core values and culture of Mercy Me/Unordinary Hospitality.
• Works with the General Manager and Director of Food & Beverage to ensure quality customer experience.
• Trains, schedules, and delegates work assignments to front-of-house staff.
• Coordinates with the Director of Food & Beverage on training material and service tools.
• Provides and oversees service for VIP customers.
• Develops positive customer relationships and addresses service needs.
• Hosts regular service classes and curates educational opportunities for staff.
• Fulfills monthly reports on service quality and team performance.
• Takes ownership of daily guest reviews and follows up with guests.
• Appraises staff performance and provides feedback for improvement.
• Develops strategies for workplace efficiency and goal achievement.
• Liaises between employees, the General Manager, and the Director of Food & Beverage.
• Oversees the restaurant environment including music, lighting, and temperature.
• Holds staff accountable to restaurant policies and service standards.
• Maintains physical facilities within the restaurant.

Requirements

• 2 years of management experience preferred.
• Knowledge of POS (point of sales) systems.
• Ability to lift heavy boxes and perform physical tasks.
• Fluent in written and spoken English.

Nice-to-haves

• Previous management experience in a high-volume service environment.
• Knowledge of wine, beer, and food safety practices.
