About the position

The Assistant General Manager (AGM) will collaborate with the management team and ownership to uphold service standards and enhance staff education, mentorship, and development. This role is pivotal in ensuring a high-quality experience for guests while fostering a warm, professional, and energetic workplace culture.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the front-of-house team to ensure high service standards are met before, during, and after service.
  • Develop and refine systems for staff training and education, providing ongoing feedback and creating pathways for professional development.
  • Participate actively in recruiting, interviewing, hiring, and training new staff.
  • Model inspired hospitality for front-of-house staff by being a dynamic presence on the floor.
  • Contribute to employee training materials and build resources for staff performance improvement.
  • Coordinate with management to hold regular employee reviews and identify growth opportunities for hourly staff.
  • Perform opening duties, including leading pre-shift meetings and liaising with the kitchen on menu changes.
  • Direct the flow of service during active participation, providing direction and delegating responsibilities.
  • Oversee service, addressing technical or facilities issues and correcting negative guest experiences.
  • Perform closing duties, including recording staff tips, reconciling cash, and conducting final walkthroughs of the restaurant.
  • Cultivate relationships with current and future regulars.
  • Develop systems and resources for overall restaurant efficiency and organization.
  • Create a positive work environment and bridge communication between front-of-house and back-of-house teams.
  • Handle client communications and manage daily reservations on Opentable.
  • Manage events from inquiry to event day, seeking out new clients and building relationships.
  • Liaise with Chef and GM on menus, pricing, and offerings for groups and events.

Requirements

  • 2 years of experience in a similar role.
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Experience in staff education and mentorship.
  • Ability to manage and develop staff effectively.
  • Proficient in training and delivering feedback.
  • Experience in recruiting and hiring staff.
