About the position

The Assistant Girls Hockey Coach at Ashland High School is responsible for coaching student-athletes, focusing on character development, skill enhancement, and fostering an appreciation for discipline, sportsmanship, and teamwork in hockey. The role requires active engagement with the community and adherence to the mission and values of the Athletic Department and APS School District.

Responsibilities

  • Coaching student-athletes in hockey.
  • Fostering character development among players.
  • Providing direction to help athletes achieve high skill levels.
  • Establishing team goals and rules, and communicating them effectively.
  • Engaging positively with student-athletes, fellow coaches, staff, parents, and the community.

Requirements

  • CPR Certification
  • First Aid Certification
  • Previous coaching and/or playing experience at the high school level or above (preferred)
  • Good communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Availability for practices after school, on weekends, and evenings.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in coaching or playing hockey at a competitive level.
