About the position
The Assistant Grocery Manager at Fry's Food Stores plays a crucial role in supporting the Department Manager by overseeing the Grocery Department's operations. This position involves planning, organizing, staffing, training, and directing associates to ensure excellent customer service and maximize store sales and profits while adhering to company policies and core values.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Department Manager in organizing work and staffing needs.
- Train and schedule associates to provide prompt and courteous service to customers.
- Respond to customer and associate comments, complaints, and requests professionally.
- Manage ordering of merchandise and supplies using Computer Assisted Ordering (CAO).
- Direct pricing and displaying of merchandise, ensuring proper signage and product rotation.
- Counsel associates on effective merchandising techniques and customer service.
- Implement company programs and adhere to policies regarding dress code and workplace environment.
- Provide input on department budgets and goals to the Department Manager.
- Maintain cleanliness and safety of equipment and facilities in accordance with company policies.
Requirements
- Willingness to work flexible hours including mornings, afternoons, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Effective written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to make quick, intelligent decisions and handle stressful situations calmly.
- Skills in production, merchandising, and customer service related to merchandise sales.
- Understanding of department operations including inventory management and customer service.
- Knowledge of employment laws and OSHA compliance.
- Ability to operate power machinery and various job tools.
