About the position

As an Assistant Healthcare Administrator at Brookdale Riverwalk SNF, you will play a crucial role in leading the day-to-day operations of a skilled nursing facility. Your primary responsibility will be to assist the Healthcare Administrator in ensuring that the facility operates in compliance with all federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and guidelines. You will be instrumental in maintaining high standards of resident care, ensuring that all residents receive the necessary care and treatment, including assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs), medication management, and individualized care as outlined in their care plans. In this position, you will provide leadership to ensure that care standards are met and that the highest degree of quality resident care is provided at all times. You will supervise department directors to ensure compliance with managerial duties and participate in the recruitment process for new personnel. Your role will also involve delegating operational responsibilities to staff members and collaborating with the Healthcare Administrator to review and update community policies and procedures to ensure compliance with current regulations. Regular inspections and rounds of the community will be part of your responsibilities, as well as participating in facility surveys conducted by government agencies. You will be expected to maintain professional relationships with community personnel, residents, and their families, and engage in positive community relations that serve the best interests of the facility. Additionally, you will serve on various community committees and attend meetings to contribute to the community's market activities.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Healthcare Administrator in leading the day-to-day operations of the skilled nursing facility.
  • Ensure care standards are met and the highest degree of quality resident care is provided at all times.
  • Ensure residents receive adequate care and treatment including ADLs, medication management, and individualized care.
  • Supervise department directors to ensure competency and compliance of manager duties.
  • Participate in the recruitment of personnel by engaging in the interview process of potential hires.
  • Delegate operational responsibilities for service delivery and administrative requirements to staff personnel.
  • Review community policies and procedures in collaboration with the Healthcare Administrator and make necessary changes for compliance.
  • Develop and implement plans of action to correct identified quality deficiencies.
  • Perform regular rounds and inspections of the community.
  • Participate in facility surveys performed by government agencies and develop plans of correction for deficiencies.
  • Maintain professional relationships with community personnel, residents, and their families.
  • Engage in positive community relations that serve the best interest of the community.
  • Serve on various community committees and attend meetings as an active partner within the community's market.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Health Care Administration, Public Health Administration, Business Administration, Nursing, a Therapy Discipline, or other health care-related degree is required.
  • Mid-level management experience is required.
  • Must comply with state approved Administrator-In-Training (AIT) requirements and apply for a state approved AIT program within 12 to 18 months of hire.
  • Thorough knowledge of federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and guidelines pertaining to skilled nursing facilities is essential.
  • Ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
  • Ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, and government agencies.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in skilled nursing facility operations is preferred.
  • Knowledge of nursing and medical practices and procedures is beneficial.
