About the position

The Assistant Hospital Manager plays a crucial role in supporting the Hospital Manager and Regional Operations Director by overseeing various administrative activities within the hospital. This position focuses on mentoring staff, ensuring high-quality patient care, and maintaining profitable operations while fostering a positive work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Direct and develop the veterinary, technical, and administrative staff towards quality patient care and excellent client service.
  • Assist in formulating objectives and policies for efficient and profitable hospital operations.
  • Prepare staff schedules and assist in monitoring payroll within budgetary guidelines.
  • Oversee hiring, reviewing, disciplining, and terminating professional staff with the Hospital Manager's approval.
  • Review the P&L Report monthly and collaborate with management to increase revenue and limit expenses.
  • Participate in the annual evaluation process with the Hospital Manager.
  • Organize and conduct monthly staff meetings as directed by management.
  • Model an 'owner' mentality by assisting employees in achieving practice success.
  • Minimize patient stress and discomfort during care.
  • Maintain client/patient medical/surgical records and ensure logs are up-to-date.
  • Supervise the administration and case review of client service or medical complaints.
  • Represent the hospital positively in the professional community and to the public.
  • Maintain a flexible schedule to meet hospital needs.
  • Attend regional meetings as requested.

Requirements

  • 2 to 3 years of client service and veterinary experience.
  • Knowledge of sales and marketing techniques.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for diverse audiences.
  • Ability to make decisions, delegate responsibility, and achieve results with team members.
  • Professional comportment and appearance with excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Respect for and willingness to work with clients and their pets.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and adapt to changing priorities.
