The Assistant Hospital Manager (AHM) plays a crucial role in the management team of a veterinary hospital, partnering with the Hospital Manager and Managing DVM to ensure smooth operations, drive revenue, and manage costs. This position is designed for individuals looking to advance their careers in a supportive environment, focusing on high-quality patient care and exceptional customer service. The AHM will support various functions including leadership, operations, people management, client service, and financial oversight, while also being present on the floor to assist staff and clients.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Practice Manager in Leadership and Planning
  • Act as a champion for change and promote best practices
  • Participate in planning and budget maintenance
  • Establish goals for the practice and staff
  • Create the hospital schedule and manage labor costs
  • Oversee employee benefits program and hospital insurance plans
  • Develop and implement hospital policy, including compliance with DEA/Controlled Substances and OSHA
  • Perform quality checks and reviews of client files
  • Monitor computer systems and resolve technical issues
  • Partner with the Managing Veterinarian to address staffing needs
  • Implement performance-based incentive and recognition programs
  • Demonstrate and reinforce high levels of client service
  • Resolve client issues and oversee follow-up communication
  • Drive client visits through strategic communication and marketing efforts
  • Ensure accurate payroll completion for all staff
  • Manage accounts receivable and cash on hand
  • Manage hospital inventory and control costs
  • Perform other essential duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business or a related field (preferred)
  • 1-3 years of experience in a managerial role
  • Customer service experience
  • Experience in a hospital, retail, or service-based industry setting (preferred)
