About the position

The Assistant Hospitality Sales Assistant Manager (AHSM) at Etude Wines plays a crucial role in managing the front-line operations of the hospitality site. This position is responsible for ensuring all guest interactions are handled with the utmost professionalism and that financial targets are met. The AHSM is tasked with creating a safe and welcoming environment for both employees and guests, which is essential for fostering a positive experience. The role requires delivering exceptional and consistent guest service, adhering to the highest standards of hospitality. In addition to guest service, the AHSM is responsible for achieving key sales metrics, including club conversion rates, average order value (AOV), and net sales revenue. Understanding and implementing cost controls, particularly in labor and cost of goods sold (COGS) for tours and tastings, is a critical aspect of this role. The AHSM will also support the overall budget delivery across various targets, including net sales revenue (NSR) and earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT). A significant part of the AHSM's responsibilities includes training and coaching team members, fostering a high-performance culture within the Etude Hospitality Team. The AHSM is expected to lead by example, inspiring the team to deliver outstanding guest experiences and embodying the values and standards of Etude Wines. This position is pivotal in ensuring that the hospitality team operates effectively and efficiently, contributing to the overall success of the winery's guest services.

Responsibilities

  • Create and ensure a safe environment for employees and guests.
  • Deliver exceptional and consistent guest service to the highest standard.
  • Achieve key sales metrics including club conversion, AOV, and net sales revenue.
  • Understand and implement cost controls, particularly in labor and COGS for tours and tastings.
  • Support the delivery of the budget across all targets, including NSR and EBIT.
  • Train and coach team members to cultivate a high-performance culture.
  • Lead and inspire the Etude Hospitality Team to deliver outstanding guest experiences.

Requirements

  • BS degree or equivalent work experience with a minimum of 3 years in a similar retail or sales leadership role in the hospitality industry.
  • Preferred experience as a tasting room manager, hotel front desk manager, or hotel shift manager.
  • 2-3 years of experience in a supervisory role.
  • Strong leadership skills and ability to coach others.
  • Knowledge of food and wine, the wine industry, and competitive offerings in the Napa and Bay Area hospitality market.
  • Proven track record of leading others and delivering results against defined targets.
  • Working knowledge of winery POS systems, calendar programs, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong customer service and sales aptitude.
  • Ability to lift 40 lbs (a case of wine).

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in the wine industry is ideal but not essential.
