About the position

Coconino County is seeking a creative, collaborative, and innovative professional to serve as the next Assistant Human Resources Director. The individual will be flexible and responsive to the department needs, committed to collaborative teamwork, able to anticipate challenges and committed to continuous improvement. The Assistant Director will have a passion for human resources and strong leadership skills, as well as a desire to develop staff, programs and initiatives in alignment with the department vision, mission, goals, and objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Assists the Director in the development and administration of all human resources functions including policy and procedure administration, recruitment and selection, employee relations, classification and compensation, employee and organizational development, employee benefits, ADA, and personnel records management
  • Conducts supervisory meetings, attends management meetings and full staff meetings
  • Selects, plans, assigns, supervises, trains, and evaluates the work of subordinates
  • Cooperates with and coordinates activities and programs with other department divisions, community/governmental agencies, providers, organizations, professionals, and the public
  • Represents the department in public appearances
  • Gathers, compiles, and analyzes activity reports to evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of departmental and mandated programs
  • Assists with the preparation and administration of departmental budget
  • Oversees or compiles statistical data for various reports
  • Monitors compliance with contractual requirements, regulations, and standards
  • Acts as Human Resources Director in that person's absence
  • Performs other job-related functions or duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in public administration, human resources administration, business administration or related field, and four years of progressively responsible administrative or supervisory experience in Human Resources administration
  • OR Associate degree in public administration, human resources administration, business administration or related field, and five years of progressively responsible administrative or supervisory experience in Human Resources administration
  • OR Six years of progressively responsible administrative or supervisory experience in Human Resources administration
  • OR Any combination of education, training and experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position
