About the position

The Assistant in Training (AIT) position at Buckle is designed for individuals looking to advance their retail management skills. This role involves working closely with the Store Manager and Leadership Team to drive sales, recruit and train new team members, and provide leadership in the store. The AIT will also take on responsibilities of the Store Manager in their absence, making it a key position for those aspiring to grow within the company.

Responsibilities

  • Greet Guests with a friendly, engaging attitude and provide legendary service.
  • Answer questions regarding the store and its merchandise.
  • Recommend and help locate merchandise based on Guest needs.
  • Anticipate and fulfill Guest's needs by suggesting additional items.
  • Demonstrate product knowledge and share that knowledge with the team.
  • Maintain knowledge of current sales, promotions, and policies.
  • Achieve personal sales goals set by Store Management.
  • Provide legendary service in key areas of the store.
  • Fill out and effectively use the Sales Presentation Guide (SPG).
  • Investigate ways to expand Guest selection through inventory tools.
  • Build good Guest relationships to develop a client-based business.
  • Lead by example with high standards of customer service.
  • Recognize and communicate Guest Levels with the Team.
  • Coach and develop new Teammates to meet Buckle's standards.
  • Maintain a positive attitude and create a positive floor culture.
  • Participate in daily setup and training activities.
  • Motivate Teammates to complete daily tasks set by Store Management.
  • Demonstrate leadership actions during segments and assist in recruitment.
  • Ensure Teammates follow Visual Standards and maintain the sales floor.
  • Handle security risks and follow Loss Prevention guidelines.
  • Complete all scheduled shifts and maintain a clean store environment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED; or one to three months related retail experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to stand, walk, use hands, reach, climb, stoop, kneel, and lift up to 30lbs.
  • Strong customer service skills and ability to work in a team environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in retail management or supervisory roles.
  • Knowledge of visual merchandising standards.
  • Ability to coach and develop team members.
