About the position

The University of Maryland Baltimore's Faculty Center for Teaching and Learning is seeking an Assistant Instructional Designer or Instructional Designer to support academic programs and enhance teaching and learning practices. This role involves applying knowledge and skills in instructional design to assist faculty and staff in developing effective educational programs and curricula. The position requires collaboration with various stakeholders to ensure compliance with academic standards and to improve student achievement through data-informed strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the coordination compliance of program or curriculum to ensure it meets academic standards and institutional policies.
  • Provide coordination and advisement in the planning, design, and implementation of individual courses and academic programs.
  • Assist staff and faculty with the use of student achievement data to inform effective programs and instruction.
  • Compile standardized, benchmark, and other academic data; meet regularly with teams to review student academic data and provide coaching.
  • Communicate and respond to student questions and concerns to ensure ongoing satisfaction with the program.
  • Assist with identifying appropriate instructional strategies and interventions to improve student achievement.
  • Coordinate the submission and development process for new course offerings and program revisions.
  • Evaluate program effectiveness and recommend improved methods.
  • Provide administrative support in areas of testing, school operations, and staff and student support.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in psychology, education, counseling, human resources development, or a related field.
  • For Assistant Designer: 1 year of related experience in educational skills counseling, training, or instructional design.
  • For Designer: 3 years of related experience in educational skills counseling, training, or instructional design.
  • Knowledge of applicable requirements, regulations, and laws related to education and instructional design.
  • Skill in effective use of applicable technology and systems.

Nice-to-haves
