About the position

The Assistant Instructor, Audio Engineer and Designer position at the University of South Florida involves teaching and managing an audio recording studio. This full-time role is focused on providing practical, hands-on experiences for students in music and design programs, while also offering opportunities for summer employment. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching courses, managing the studio, and contributing to university service.

Responsibilities

  • Teach two courses per semester focused on music majors and design students.
  • Manage an audio recording studio that serves as both a teaching facility and a working studio.
  • Develop practical, hands-on professional experiences for students.
  • Serve on university committees and perform other professional service activities.
  • Offer summer academic courses, professional workshops, and clinics in the studio.
  • Conduct summer camps for middle and high school students.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in music, design, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in audio recording and sound design.
  • Certification in Audinate Dante levels 1-3.

Nice-to-haves

  • Prior audio and/or design teaching experience at the collegiate or secondary school levels.
  • Terminal degree in music, design, or a related field.
  • Experience with video and lighting design.
