The Assistant Interior Designer position at the University of Mississippi involves supporting the Interior Designer in creating preliminary plans and design concepts for various university projects. This role requires collaboration with both internal and external stakeholders to ascertain project requirements and analyze design concepts effectively. The incumbent will assist in determining the scope of work, obtaining cost estimates, and providing support in the creation of CAD plans. Staying updated on the latest resources and design trends is also a crucial aspect of this position. In this role, the Assistant Interior Designer will be responsible for creating room layouts and furniture specifications that align with the design scope. The position also entails providing clerical and administrative support to the interior design staff, which includes securing pricing and proposals for construction work related to the designs. The Assistant will maintain knowledge of space planning, floor finish plans, and elevations, ensuring that all design elements are cohesive and functional. Additionally, the Assistant Interior Designer will assist in maintaining the interior design sample resource materials and client records, coordinate installations, manage deliveries, and follow up on post-installation activities. Acting as a liaison with design professionals and industry providers, the Assistant will handle communication with clients through various channels, including phone calls, emails, and official letters. This position may also involve performing similar or related duties as assigned by the hiring department.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Interior Design from an accredited four-year college or university.
  • One (1) year of experience related to the above described duties.
