About the position

The Assistant Lead Field Framer at Doug Speedling Builders Inc. is responsible for overseeing construction site operations, ensuring efficient and safe completion of framing tasks. This role involves managing multiple projects, supervising crew members, and contributing to their education and development, all while maintaining high standards of quality and safety.

Responsibilities

• Oversee job progress, ensuring all tasks align with company standards and safety protocols.
• Lead and supervise carpenters and journeymen, delegating tasks and managing daily operations.
• Ensure timely delivery and proper use of materials and tools on site.
• Assist in the education and skill development of carpenters on your crew.
• Maintain clear communication with the Lead-Person and management to keep projects on track.
• Ensure all work meets the company's quality standards and that projects are completed within budget and time constraints.
• Track and report hours worked by crew members and regularly update management on job progress.
• Enforce safety protocols, ensuring the job site is clean and safe for all workers.

Requirements

• A minimum of 4 years of construction experience or equivalent, with a focus on framing.
• Education from a 1 or 2 year Carpentry program is very helpful.
• Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, able to interact with crew members, management, and external partners.
• Knowledge of construction techniques, including the use of hand and power tools.
• Ability to read blueprints and interpret construction drawings.
• Must be physically capable of performing duties, including lifting up to 75 pounds unassisted and working in various weather conditions.
• Valid driver's license and good vehicle to get to work.
• High work ethic, personal integrity, and a professional appearance.
