About the position

The Assistant Logistics Manager plays a crucial role in supporting and enhancing logistics operations, including import/export processes, domestic transportation, and regulatory compliance. This position assists the Logistics Manager in planning, coordinating, and executing transportation and distribution operations, ensuring efficient and timely processing of shipments and compliance with relevant regulations.

Responsibilities

• Provide daily support and guidance to the logistics team.
• Train team members in company policies and job duties; make recommendations for improving team efficiency.
• Oversee major logistics operations, ensuring timely processing of shipments and invoices.
• Verify logistics and customs fees and coordinate management approvals when necessary.
• Assist in resolving shipment, customs, payment, and claims issues, keeping management updated on progress.
• Maintain records of shipments related to on-time delivery, cost, and service level.
• Collaborate with management to define, measure, and report performance metrics for inbound suppliers and distribution centers.
• Ensure compliance with CBP, C-TPAT, and company policies.
• Assist management in refining and developing departmental policies, procedures, and work instructions.
• Coordinate with suppliers, negotiate terms, and compare quotes to select the best vendors.
• Support inbound tracking, customs clearance, and drayage coordination.
• Gather data to support management reports and prepare shipment updates for staff meetings.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in logistics, specifically in import/export.
• Strong problem-solving, analytical thinking, and organizational skills.
• Excellent communication, customer service, and time management skills.
• Proficiency in logistics software, Microsoft Office Suite, and data analysis.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Associate's degree or equivalent in logistics or a related field preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
