About the position

The Assistant Maintenance Supervisor at Kenton County School District is responsible for ensuring a safe, clean, and efficient physical learning environment for students. This role involves supervising maintenance personnel, overseeing maintenance operations, and collaborating with the Buildings, Grounds, and Maintenance Supervisor to manage building systems and outsourced services effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the recruitment, employment, assignment, transfer, promotion, demotion, or dismissal of maintenance personnel.
  • Schedule work routines for maintenance personnel.
  • Recommend purchase of equipment and supplies.
  • Supervise all outsourced maintenance services.
  • Organize, implement, and maintain a program of preventative maintenance.
  • Supervise operations of heating and cooling plants.
  • Maintain district keying management system.
  • Assist in the direction and inspections of the maintenance of all buildings as to operational efficiency and safety.
  • Assume responsibility for the safe conditions of lighting fixtures, electrical apparatus, fixtures, wiring, air conditioning, refrigeration, heating units, roofing, and plumbing in the facilities owned or operated by the district.
  • Work collaboratively with the Buildings, Grounds, and Maintenance Supervisor to supervise and inspect improvements and renovations performed by outside contractors and verify completion of contracts before authorizing final payments.
  • Review on a regular basis all security precautions and procedures.
  • Maintain all playground inspections, accident investigations, and repairs.
  • Coordinate annual bleacher, gym equipment, and athletic facility inspections and oversee any identified/required repairs.
  • Assist with periodic development of written bidding specifications for all outsourced services.
  • Assist with all efforts established to conserve energy.
  • Operate the district's building automation system.
  • Be available to assist with all building level emergencies that may occur after normal working hours.
  • Maintain regular attendance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of the basic principles of construction, maintenance, custodial services, and security.
  • Certification and/or extensive training in HVAC, Electrical Functions, Asbestos Management, Energy Audits, Refrigeration, Boiler Management, and Plumbing Systems.
  • Ability to effectively lead, supervise, and communicate with employees under his/her jurisdiction.
  • Minimum four (4) years supervisory experience.
  • Meets required physical examination.
