About the position

The Assistant Manager at Border Foods is responsible for overseeing the entire restaurant operation, ensuring a positive experience for both employees and guests. The Assistant Manager will lead a strong team to deliver great food and service while also focusing on strategic planning and financial performance.

Responsibilities

  • Reinforce Border Foods CORE values including Accountability, Integrity, Family, Excellence, Teamwork, and Empowerment.
  • Oversee the operation of the entire restaurant and ensure a quality customer experience.
  • Guide team members and Shift Leaders in completing assigned duties and serving safe, quality food.
  • Monitor team performance and hold members accountable for standards and expectations.
  • Maintain the point of sale system and report any failures or inaccuracies.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety standards and local laws.
  • Create unity within the team and resolve employee issues in a timely manner.
  • Motivate and support the team through effective communication and active listening.
  • Handle customer complaints and issues with a sincere approach to find effective solutions.
  • Develop short-term and long-term strategies for restaurant success.
  • Utilize and interpret P&L statements to make financial adjustments and deliver profit.
  • Conduct new hire orientation and develop training plans for new employees.
  • Minimize loss through adherence to cash handling policies and proper training of team members.

Requirements

  • Minimum of three years of restaurant or retail experience, or a combination of experience and education.
  • Experience with sales building, P&L statements, recruiting, and training.
  • Proven track record of successful hiring and retention.
  • Ability to work flexible hours including early mornings, evenings, late nights, weekends, and some holidays.
  • ServeSafe Certified.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Valid driver's license and vehicle insurance.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
