About the position

The Assistant IT Manager at the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco will lead and manage an agile scrum team focused on software application development for the CASH business line. This role emphasizes the importance of agile methodologies, team empowerment, and continuous improvement, while also fostering a collaborative and flexible work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the agile scrum team engaged in software application development for the CASH business line.
  • Implement agile metrics to identify opportunities for improvement during retrospective meetings.
  • Empower a self-organized team to collaborate effectively on product delivery.
  • Shape Sprint planning around automated testing practices.
  • Act as a Servant Leader, focusing on removing impediments and enhancing team capabilities.
  • Guide, mentor, and coach teams to continuously improve using the Scrum framework.
  • Facilitate daily Scrum stand-ups and coordinate work across multiple Scrum Teams.
  • Manage the agile software development lifecycle from project initiation to production release.
  • Influence organizational change in adopting Scrum/Agile principles.
  • Challenge teams to break down stories into manageable sizes for Sprint delivery.
  • Manage a team of developers and coordinate development dependencies across teams.
  • Define project vision, scope, and work in support of business goals with project collaborators.
  • Create and manage project plans, artifacts, and processes throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Manage communications, issues, risks, and scope changes during the project.
  • Oversee performance of project resources and set expectations accordingly.
  • Develop and maintain business relationships vital to project success.
  • Facilitate Sprint Planning, Daily Standups, Retrospectives, and Product Demos.
  • Assist Product Owners with backlog creation and grooming of stories.
  • Report team status to executive audiences and maintain scrum team dashboards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in any business/technical discipline or equivalent experience.
  • 5 or more years of proven experience in software development projects and supporting critical business applications.
  • 3 or more years of proven experience in managing projects with moderate to high risk and complexity.
  • Experience in successfully leading, coaching, and developing staff.
  • Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrable ability to collaborate, initiate action, adapt to change, and demonstrate leadership.
  • Experience managing large, complex web application development is preferred.
  • PMP Certification preferred.
  • Experience with Agile team development processes and practices is required.
  • Certified SCRUM Master (preferred).
  • SAFe Certification (desired).
  • Must be a US Citizen or Green Card holder with intent to become a U.S. Citizen.

  • Experience with automated testing frameworks.
  • Familiarity with application programming, database, and system design.
