About the position

The Assistant Manager of Capital Markets Operations at Navy Federal Credit Union plays a crucial role in supporting the investment and liquidity management strategy within the Treasury division. This position involves overseeing daily operational activities, ensuring compliance with federal regulations, and leading a team of analysts to manage the reserve balance at the Federal Reserve Bank. The role also includes responsibilities for accounting, reporting, and strategic alignment with corporate goals.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and direct analysts on daily capital markets operational activities, including monitoring account activities and reserve balance at the FRB.
  • Account for and settle all investment and borrowing transactions.
  • Conduct daily and monthly reconciliations of investment and borrowing transactions.
  • Coordinate the month-end closing process of the investment accounting subledger.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual reports for leadership and regulatory bodies.
  • Lead investigations and resolutions of discrepancies and data entry errors.
  • Maintain the investment accounting subledger to achieve efficiencies and reduce operational risk.
  • Review analysts' tasks such as corporate and securities wires, journal entries, and trades.
  • Assist the Manager in responding to organizational changes and initiatives.
  • Review and monitor the timely submission of PBCs for audits.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for CM Ops projects and initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Develop team unity and engagement through performance goals and mentoring.
  • Act as manager in the incumbent's absence.

Requirements

  • Significant experience or operational knowledge with corporate capital markets operations.
  • Advanced experience in an operational environment with accounting entries and reconciliations.
  • Experience supervising, leading, coaching, and training team members in accounting rules and regulatory reporting.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities independently and in a team environment.
  • Experience in a SOX control environment and assisting in the assessment of controls and risks.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams and leading projects.
  • Working knowledge of investment tracking and accounting software.
  • Experience in initiating and managing change.
  • Effective organizational, planning, and time management skills.
  • Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to build relationships through rapport and trust.
  • Proficient in word processing and spreadsheet software.
  • Proficient in database and presentation software.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Economics, Finance, or equivalent.

  • Experience with credit union financials and NCUA regulations.

  • Previous experience in the financial services industry.
  • CPA designation.
