About the position

The Assistant Manager-Compensation and Benefits at East Cambridge Savings Bank plays a crucial role in supporting the Human Resources Division by coordinating and implementing compensation and benefits programs. This position is responsible for ensuring compliance with established policies and regulations while assisting employees with their benefits-related inquiries. The role requires a detail-oriented individual with strong organizational and communication skills to manage payroll processing and employee benefit administration effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and process payroll, ensuring compliance with wage and hour regulations.
  • Maintain payroll system and assist with upgrades and administration as needed.
  • Administer and monitor employee benefit programs, determining eligibility and managing enrollments.
  • Review and approve benefit invoices, confirming accurate enrollment.
  • Assist employees with benefits-related questions and coordinate the open enrollment process.
  • Create and distribute materials to communicate benefit plans to employees.
  • Ensure payroll tax issues are resolved and paid in compliance with State and Federal law.
  • Support the Bank's wellness initiatives and administer employee benefit programs as needed.
  • Assist in administering the Bank's compensation programs, including position descriptions and salary structures.
  • Maintain FMLA and medical files, ensuring records are complete and accurate.
  • Create monthly variance reports and submit to accounting in a timely manner.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent through specialized coursework and training.
  • At least three years of experience in Human Resources, including compensation, payroll processing, and benefits administration.
  • At least one year of supervisory experience.
  • Experience with ADP preferred; experience with other payroll/HRIS software helpful.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to draft correspondence and memos.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously while adhering to deadlines.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
