About the position

Samsung Semiconductor is seeking a highly qualified Assistant Manager for IT Solution & Database Architect Architecture to join our Information Technology Group. This role is pivotal in designing, building, and managing IT solutions and databases tailored to meet project and business requirements. The position is hybrid, requiring onsite presence at our San Jose, CA headquarters three days a week, with the flexibility to work remotely for the remainder of the time. As part of a global leader in technology solutions, you will have the opportunity to contribute to innovative designs that power everyday tools, including smartphones, electric vehicles, and IoT devices. In this role, you will be responsible for analyzing the IT solution architecture required by various departments and suggesting optimal approaches. You will conduct technical evaluations and proofs-of-concept to assess software application products from external vendors, acting as a technical expert and advisor. Additionally, you will oversee the collection, processing, and loading of internal and external source data, designing and building data pipelines to facilitate data flow. Establishing and operating databases for systematic management of IT infrastructure will be a key responsibility, along with performance optimization and issue tracking related to IT solutions and database management. You will also define and document architectural standards, patterns, and best practices for IT solutions and databases, participating in company projects as an IT Solution and Database Architect. Your role will involve evaluating and proposing new tools and KPIs related to data streaming, data cataloging, data lineage, and performance for large datasets. Collaboration with cross-functional teams, including security, IT, and operations, will be essential to ensure seamless integration of solutions and databases into the overall IT ecosystem. Furthermore, you will analyze software application resource utilization and establish optimization plans, manage software licenses, and oversee MIS solutions and Jira/Confluence management.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and apply optimal IT solutions such as SaaS or In-House and Database.
• Analyze the IT Solution Architecture required by each department and suggest the best way.
• Conduct technical evaluations and proofs-of-concept to evaluate software application products from external vendors.
• Collect, process, and load internal and external source data to design and build data pipelines.
• Establish and operate databases for systematic management of IT infrastructure.
• Optimize performance and track issues related to IT solutions and database management.
• Identify and manage the overall status of software applications and related services.
• Establish an optimal management process for IT solutions and databases.
• Define and document architectural standards, patterns, and best practices for IT solutions and databases.
• Participate in company projects as an IT Solution and Database Architect, providing well-engineered, secure, and integrated solutions.
• Evaluate and propose new tools and KPIs related to data streaming, data catalog, data lineage, and data performance for large datasets.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of solutions and databases into the overall IT ecosystem.
• Analyze software application resource utilization and establish optimization plans.
• Manage software licenses and oversee MIS solutions and Jira/Confluence management.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree with 5+ years of relevant industry experience, or Master's degree with 3+ years, or PhD in Industrial Engineering, Information Technology, or related technical field preferred.
• Minimum 5 years' experience as an IT Solution & Database architect.
• Experience in building and managing databases.
• Broad technical and practical skills with common infrastructure systems including DBMS, Oracle, MySQL, MS-SQL, PostgreSQL, Jira, Confluence, GitHub, Jenkins, Virtualization/VMware, Grafana, Hadoop, Kafka, Airflow/Luigi, Apache Atlas/Spline.
• Ability to identify complex problems, review information to develop and evaluate options, and propose solutions is imperative.
• Experience in customer support or quality assurance is a plus.
