About the position

As an Assistant Merchandise and Inventory Manager at Nordstrom, you will play a pivotal role in the success of the store by wearing many hats. Your primary responsibilities will include mentoring your team, being their biggest supporter, and driving business results. You will partner closely with the department manager to recruit, hire, and train new employees, as well as develop and motivate existing staff. Your passion for technology will be essential as you train and educate employees on the tools that enhance the customer experience, making it quick, easy, and enjoyable. In this role, you will maintain a regular presence on the sales floor, sharing your knowledge and enthusiasm about the latest products with both your team and customers. You will work collaboratively with the department manager to ensure that the department remains runway ready by managing stocking, re-merchandising, and straightening throughout the day. Additionally, you will rally your team to maintain accurate inventory management, educating them on shrinkage and unit variance as necessary. Your responsibilities will also extend beyond the department, as you will lend a helping hand around the store by setting up special events, organizing back rooms, relocating store fixtures, and more. This position is not just about managing inventory; it’s about creating a positive and productive environment for both employees and customers.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Proven success in current role with a strong track record of delivering results.
  • Ability to develop and maintain productive relationships with store and regional managers.
  • Excellent communication skills and strong team-building abilities.
  • Talent for influencing others and leading change effectively.
  • Strong organizational, delegation, and follow-through skills.
  • High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).
