About the position

The Assistant Manager, Ops at Amazon is responsible for leading and engaging a team to ensure high levels of safety, quality, attendance, and performance during shifts. This in-person role requires flexibility to work 10-hour overnight shifts and involves managing workflows to meet customer delivery expectations. The position plays a crucial role in the Global Specialty Fulfillment organization, focusing on enhancing the last mile customer experience.

Responsibilities

  • Support, mentor, and motivate team members during shifts.
  • Manage safety, quality, productivity, and customer delivery promises.
  • Collaborate with support teams including Safety, Ops Integration, Loss Prevention, and Human Resources to develop plans to meet business objectives.
  • Lift up to 49 pounds and stand/walk during shifts lasting up to 12 hours.
  • Work in varying noise levels and temperatures, including outside loading departments and refrigerated environments.
  • Work a flexible schedule, including weekends and/or overnight shifts.

Requirements

  • High School or equivalent diploma.
  • 6+ months of leadership experience in a retail, distribution, or similar environment.
  • At least 1 year of experience working with computers and Microsoft Office (including Outlook, Word, and Excel).
  • Ability to lift up to 49 pounds and stand/walk during shifts lasting up to 12 hours.
  • Ability to work 40 hours/week and overtime as required.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules/shifts/areas, including weekends, nights, and/or holidays.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience managing a team of 10+ employees or 1+ year of experience directly managing others.
  • Experience with process improvements (Lean Six Sigma and/or Kaizen).
  • Excellent customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • A Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain/Logistics, or a related field.
