About the position

As an Assistant Manager in Product Engineering at S&C Electric Company, you will play a pivotal role in coordinating the Product Engineering function, ensuring smooth operations, and supporting a diverse team. This position focuses on high-voltage switching, protection, and control products, particularly for underground distribution. You will lead a team of engineers, provide technical guidance, and oversee product design and process improvements, contributing to the development of innovative solutions for the electrical power industry.

Responsibilities

  • Leading a team of engineers responsible for providing support to underground distribution product's production lines.
  • Providing technical leadership and guidance to underground distribution production lines and team members.
  • Overseeing engineering for small-scale product design and process improvements.
  • Collaborating with suppliers, production representatives, and customers to resolve product-related issues promptly.
  • Editing and approving RMA reports, issuing corrective actions, and supervising design changes when necessary.
  • Recruiting, training, and mentoring team members to achieve personal, professional, and corporate performance objectives.
  • Providing high-quality engineering support for internal and external customers.
  • Tracking resources for project and team member allocation.
  • Presenting significant findings to senior management and engineers throughout the company.
  • Maintaining a high standard of quality on the supported product line(s).

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering; Master's degree preferred.
  • At least 5 years of experience in a Product Support, Design, or Development role.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to work within a team and build positive relationships with team members and project stakeholders.
  • Desire to work in a fast-paced, hands-on environment.
  • Strong analytical and data processing skills with a solid understanding of statistics.
  • Experience with modeling and simulation environments such as Matlab, Maxwell, and Ansys.
  • Experience with high power and high voltage testing and applicable test standards for switchgear.
  • Experience with project planning and project management.
