About the position

The Assistant Manager Production position at our Gaithersburg, MD store offers an exciting and diverse opportunity in retail inventory management within a dynamic work environment. As an Assistant Manager, you will be a key decision-maker, leading your own production team and ensuring the smooth operation of the business unit. In this role, you will assist the store manager with the overall operation of the business unit, which includes developing, coaching, and training all direct reports. You will help create an atmosphere of exceptional customer service for both internal and external customers, including associates, peers, donors, shoppers, and community partners. Your responsibilities will also include making recommendations for hiring and evaluating team associates, performing daily administrative functions, and ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures. You will be expected to maintain the store's appearance and assist in enforcing safety and security procedures, acting as a safety captain when necessary. Additionally, you will monitor production levels and the quality of merchandise on the sales floor, ensuring adherence to the Push for Production (PFP) model. This position requires a proactive approach to managing donation functions and fulfilling other duties as assigned, making it essential for candidates to possess strong leadership and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Assists the store manager with the overall operation of the business unit.
  • Develops, coaches and trains all direct reports in the business unit.
  • Helps to create an atmosphere of ongoing exceptional customer service to internal and external customers.
  • Makes recommendations for hiring and evaluating associates on the team.
  • Performs daily administrative/clerical functions of store operations.
  • Provides exceptional customer service to customers, including resolving customer concerns.
  • Fulfills the duties of store personnel only if needed.
  • Models, monitors and enforces compliance with company policies, SOP's and values.
  • Maintains the general appearance of the store and premises according to agency standards.
  • Assists in the enforcement of store safety and security procedures.
  • Assists with maintaining production levels and quality of merchandise to the sales floor.
  • Monitors and ensures a smooth process for all donation functions.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent plus one to three years previous management experience in retail or similar service-oriented business.
  • Basic math and computer skills, including the ability to create and manipulate spreadsheets and understand computerized time and attendance systems.
  • Ability to effectively communicate in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Personal vehicle to transport store receipts to the bank.
  • Willingness to work flexible days and hours.

Nice-to-haves

  • Associate's degree or higher.
  • Previous experience in the area of inventory movement and warehousing, preferably in a retail environment.
  • Fluency in a language other than English.
