About the position

The Assistant Manager, PS&P Public Relations at Honda is a pivotal role responsible for leading the coordination and implementation of Press & Public Relations strategies within the PS&P division. This position requires a strong focus on collaboration and consensus-building across various internal and external departments to achieve the business plan goals set for the short, medium, and long term. The Assistant Manager will direct all assigned staff to ensure their growth and performance, maintain the expected output of the team, and support business initiatives while managing resources effectively within designated limits. Communication of strategies and results to both associates and management is a key aspect of this role. In addition to managing the team, the Assistant Manager will oversee the overall PS&P Press & Public Relations strategy, which includes organizing media-facing events and interactions. This will involve utilizing both internal and external resources to meet business objectives. The role also entails actively managing press inventory activities in a timely and effective manner to support the business plan objectives. A significant part of the job will be to develop and implement a content strategy aimed at engaging media, thereby increasing brand preference and loyalty, which ultimately drives sales division strategies and dealer sales. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of the Powersports industry, including both 2- and 4-wheel products, and will have a good grasp of Honda's product lineup as well as competitors' offerings. This role demands excellent planning, implementation, and project management skills, along with strategic thinking capabilities to analyze both Honda's and competitors' situations to maximize resources effectively. Strong decision-making abilities and presentation skills are essential, as the Assistant Manager will be required to analyze complex media data reporting and adjust plans to meet organizational objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the coordination and implementation of PS&P Press & Public Relations strategies.
  • Direct all assigned staff to ensure associate growth and performance.
  • Manage resources within designated limits and promote communication of strategies/results to associates and management.
  • Oversee the overall PS&P Press & Public Relations strategy through media-facing events and interactions.
  • Actively manage press inventory activity to support business plan objectives.
  • Develop and implement content strategy to engage media and increase brand preference and loyalty.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or related discipline or equivalent work experience.
  • 10+ years of Powersports Dealer, OE or Aftermarket supplier experience required.
  • Experience in direct supervision of teams comprising multiple people.
  • Good mechanical knowledge and understanding of Powersports technology.
  • Familiarity with 2- and 4-wheel PSP business and marketing, including overall product knowledge of the Honda lineup and competitors' products.
  • Ability to manage multiple schedules and budgets.
  • Effective communication and interaction skills with associates; ability to motivate the team.
  • Comfortable with public speaking to large groups with expertise in product categories.
  • Good planning, implementation, and project management skills.
  • Strong decision-making ability and presentation skills.
  • Ability to analyze complex media data reporting and adjust plans accordingly.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
