About the position
The Assistant Manager at Goodwill Industries is responsible for assisting in the smooth operation of a fast-paced retail store, ensuring a positive image of Goodwill in the community. This role involves supervising store personnel in the absence of the Store Manager and performing various managerial functions, including cashiering, training employees, and maintaining store appearance and safety.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the supervision of all store personnel in the absence of the Store Manager.
- Accurately handle cashiering duties, including counting money and making change.
- Communicate specials to customers and maintain a friendly atmosphere.
- Assist in training and developing store employees and clients.
- Supervise stock procedures, including handling donations and checking stock condition.
- Administer company policies and assist in daily bank deposits and handling refunds.
- Maintain safety and security of the premises and merchandise.
- Conduct emergency drills and instruct workers in fire prevention and safety procedures.
Requirements
- Must have a valid Driver's License and insurance.
- High school diploma or GED is required.
- Ability to read, write, and perform simple math functions.
- Effective communication skills and ability to supervise personnel.
- Prior experience in dealing with the public and sales-oriented.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience with SharePoint is preferred.
