About the position

The Assistant Manager - Room Operations is an entry-level management position focused on supporting the daily activities of Rooms Operations at The Ritz-Carlton Cleveland. This role involves overseeing areas such as Housekeeping, Recreation, Laundry, and Guest Services, ensuring guest satisfaction and maintaining cleanliness standards while achieving operational budgets.

Responsibilities

  • Support the management of Rooms Operations activities including opening and closing Front Desk shifts and ensuring completion of assigned shift checklists.
  • Run and review critical information contained in room operations reports.
  • Understand the functions of various departments including Recreation, Laundry, Housekeeping, and Guest Services.
  • Operate department equipment and report malfunctions as necessary.
  • Ensure employees have the proper supplies and uniforms.
  • Understand night audit procedures and utilize reports as necessary.
  • Communicate performance expectations to employees according to job descriptions.
  • Handle employee questions and concerns effectively.
  • Schedule employees according to business demands and track attendance.
  • Supervise same-day selling procedures to maximize room revenue and occupancy.
  • Verify accuracy of room rates to maximize revenue opportunities.
  • Participate in managing departmental controllable expenses to achieve budget goals.
  • Assist in investigating employee and guest accidents and use guest information tracking systems for repeat guest recognition.
  • Interact with guests to obtain feedback on product quality and service levels, responding to complaints as necessary.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED; 3 years of experience in guest services, front desk, housekeeping, or a related professional area, or a 2-year degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management, Hospitality, Business Administration, or a related major with 1 year of experience.
