About the position

The Assistant Manager - Room Operations is an entry-level management position focused on supporting the daily activities of Rooms Operations, which includes overseeing areas such as Housekeeping, Recreation, and Guest Services. The role involves ensuring guest satisfaction, maintaining cleanliness standards, and assisting in managing the operating budget.

Responsibilities

  • Support the management of Rooms Operations activities including opening and closing Front Desk shifts and ensuring completion of assigned shift checklists.
  • Run and review critical information contained in room operations reports.
  • Understand the functions of various departments including Recreation, Laundry, Housekeeping, and Concierge/Guest Services operations.
  • Operate department equipment and report malfunctions as necessary.
  • Ensure employees have the proper supplies and uniforms.
  • Understand night audit procedures and utilize reports as necessary.
  • Communicate performance expectations to employees according to job descriptions.
  • Handle employee questions and concerns effectively.
  • Schedule employees according to business demands and track time and attendance.
  • Supervise same day selling procedures to maximize room revenue and property occupancy.
  • Verify accuracy of room rates to maximize revenue opportunities.
  • Participate in managing departmental controllable expenses to achieve budget goals.
  • Assist in investigating employee and guest accidents and managing guest experiences.
  • Interact with guests to obtain feedback on product quality and service levels, responding to complaints as necessary.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED; 3 years of experience in guest services, front desk, housekeeping, or a related professional area, or a 2-year degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management, Hospitality, Business Administration, or a related major with 1 year of experience in the same fields.
