About the position

The Assistant Shop Manager (ASM) at Take 5 Oil Change plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of the shop while also providing exceptional customer service. This position is designed for individuals who are passionate about leading a team and delivering high-quality service in a fast-paced environment. The ASM will spend approximately 80% of their time performing technician duties, which include changing oil, replacing filters, and conducting light maintenance services. The remaining time will be dedicated to learning the managerial skills necessary to oversee the shop and support the Shop Manager in their absence. In this role, the ASM will be responsible for a variety of tasks that contribute to the overall success of the shop. This includes not only technical duties such as draining motor oil, changing oil filters, and inspecting vehicle fluids, but also ensuring that the shop is clean and well-maintained. The ASM will assist customers in selecting the appropriate oil type and services, process payments, and check in with customers to ensure they have had a positive experience. Additionally, the ASM will help manage inventory levels and perform opening and closing procedures, all while serving as a role model for other employees. Responsibilities

  • Perform all technician duties including changing oil, replacing filters, and conducting light maintenance services.
  • Assist customers in selecting oil types and other services.
  • Process payments for services performed.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the shop, office, and bathroom.
  • Restock and maintain inventory levels on the floor.
  • Check in with customers before they leave to ensure a great experience.
  • Ensure proper operation of the store in the absence of the Shop Manager.
  • Perform opening and closing procedures.
  • Assist with counting and adjusting inventory.
  • Serve as a role model to other employees.

Requirements

  • Experience in oil change or automotive service industry.
  • Leadership experience in a similar role.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting up to 50 pounds and maneuvering in and out of a shallow pit.
  • Reliable transportation.
