About the position

The Assistant Store Manager at Tractor Supply Company plays a crucial role in the operations of a specialty retail farm and ranch store. This position serves as the second in command to the Store Manager, focusing on delivering exceptional customer service, leading the store team, and ensuring a safe and productive work environment. The Assistant Store Manager is responsible for various operational activities, including training team members, managing store operations, and promoting a culture of diversity and inclusion.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver a Legendary Customer Experience by following the GURA model: Greet the Customer, Uncover Customer's Needs & Wants, Recommend Product Solutions, Ask to Add Value & Appreciate the Customer.
  • Assist the Store Manager in driving sales and profit, customer loyalty, and delegating daily tasks.
  • Support the Store Manager in Team Member counseling, hiring, scheduling, and training.
  • Perform opening and closing procedures for the store.
  • Resolve customer complaints and ensure a positive shopping experience.
  • Lead freight movement and support merchandising initiatives, feed management, and inventory control.
  • Operate cash register and supervise cash handling procedures.
  • Ensure adherence to loss prevention standards and respond to alarm calls as needed.
  • Operate equipment such as forklifts and balers, and ensure the safety and well-being of birds in the store.
  • Complete all documentation associated with job duties.

Requirements

  • Previous retail leadership experience is required.
  • Knowledge in farming, ranching, pet/equine, or welding is strongly preferred.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older and possess a valid driver's license.
  • High school diploma or equivalent is required; Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or related field is preferred.
  • Ability to read, write, and count accurately.
