About the position

The Assistant Manager at Hibbett | City Gear plays a crucial role in supporting the Store Manager with overall operations and administrative duties. This position is focused on achieving store goals through effective management of staff, inventory, and customer service. The Assistant Manager is expected to uphold company policies and standards while providing exceptional service to customers and promoting merchandise.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Store Manager in controlling the assets of Hibbett | City Gear.
• Consult with the Store Manager in establishing action plans for selling, restocking, merchandising, ordering, and scheduling.
• Assume responsibility for the entire store in the absence of the Store Manager.
• Assist in overall personnel recruiting, training, and evaluation.
• Provide knowledge and guidance to employees and customers in all departments when necessary.
• Monitor inventory, sales statistics, and expenses to ensure profitability.
• Direct staff to ensure departmental responsibilities and standards are met.
• Keep the Store Manager informed about inventory movement and customer trends.
• Ensure quality customer service is maintained.
• Perform general administrative duties as needed.

Requirements

• Experience working in a retail environment, preferably in footwear and athletic apparel.
• 1-3 years of customer service experience.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to assist in managing a team and meet overall goals and profits.
• Self-starter with initiative to take on important tasks without being asked.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Team player passionate about outstanding customer service and selling merchandise.
