About the position
The Assistant Store Manager is a pivotal role within our specialty retail farm and ranch store, acting as the second in command to the Store Manager. This position requires a comprehensive understanding of all operational aspects of the store, ensuring that every customer receives a Legendary Customer Experience. The Assistant Store Manager is responsible for leading and directing the store team, promoting a safe and productive work environment, and training team members on the appropriate application of policies and procedures. The role demands flexibility, adaptability, and a strong service orientation, as the Assistant Store Manager must be available to work varied hours, including nights, weekends, and overtime as needed by the business. In this role, you will assist the Store Manager in driving sales and profit, enhancing customer loyalty, and managing daily operations. You will support the Store Manager in team member counseling, hiring, scheduling, and training, ensuring that all team members are equipped with the necessary product knowledge and skills to provide exceptional service. The Assistant Store Manager will also be responsible for performing opening and closing procedures, managing cash handling, and ensuring compliance with loss prevention standards. Additionally, you will lead freight movement, support merchandising initiatives, and maintain inventory control, all while fostering a welcoming environment that values diversity, equity, and inclusion. The Assistant Store Manager plays a crucial role in creating a positive shopping experience for customers, resolving complaints, and ensuring that the store operates smoothly and efficiently. This position requires a hands-on approach, as you will be involved in various operational tasks throughout the day, including assisting customers with loading purchases and maintaining the safety and well-being of store animals. Overall, the Assistant Store Manager is essential in upholding the store's standards and delivering on our promise of Legendary Customer Service.
Responsibilities
- Assist Store Manager in Store Operations including driving sales and profit, customer loyalty, planning, prioritization, and delegating daily tasks.
- Support Store Manager in Team Member counseling, hiring/staffing decisions, scheduling, and training.
- Perform Opening/Closing procedures.
- Transport and make deposits to the bank.
- Resolve customer complaints/issues and ensure a positive shopping experience.
- Champion the Customer Experience in the store and execute the role of the GURA Sales Leader.
- Lead freight movement, and support merchandising initiatives, feed management, and inventory control.
- Operate cash register/computer and supervise cash handling procedures.
- Adhere to loss prevention standards and respond to any alarm calls as needed.
- Operate Forklift and Baler as required.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of birds and maintain poultry holding tanks.
- Assist customers with loading purchases.
Requirements
- Previous retail leadership experience is required.
- Farming, ranching, pet/equine, or welding knowledge is strongly preferred.
- Must be 18 years of age or older and possess a valid driver's license.
- High school diploma or the equivalent is required; Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or related field is preferred.
- Ability to read, write, and count accurately.
