About the position

The Assistant Manager at O Fine Japanese Cuisine is responsible for ensuring an exceptional dining experience for guests through effective management of restaurant operations, staff training, and compliance with food quality standards. This role involves direct interaction with guests, handling complaints, and collaborating with the General Manager to maintain operational efficiency and financial records.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and resolve guest complaints, ensuring satisfaction and conducting follow-up to gather feedback.
  • Regularly inspect food and beverage preparation and presentation, maintaining inventory to boost sales.
  • Ensure compliance with established food quality and standards.
  • Manage workload to ensure the smooth operation of restaurant activities, maintaining high standards to meet operational goals.
  • Train and guide employees to ensure a seamless transition within the company, providing additional training and incentives when necessary.
  • Collaborate with the General Manager on daily operations and maintain financial and administrative records.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal laws regarding labor costs and guest relations.
  • Evaluate staff performance and provide constructive feedback.
  • Maintain personal records, schedules, and reports for all employees.
  • Develop and implement promotional plans and advertising materials, ensuring adherence to both local and company standards.
  • Support employee teams in delivering excellent customer service.
  • Uphold sanitation and hygiene standards in the kitchen, and ensure effective store presentation.
  • Work with the team to meet sales targets, enhance customer satisfaction, and follow company procedures to improve productivity.

Requirements

  • At least 1 year of serving experience, preferably in Fine Dining or Omakase.
  • Mid-level Assistant Manager experience of 2 years.
  • Ability to work fast, multitask, and handle high volume flow during lunch and dinner rushes.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work well with team members, including kitchen and sushi bar staff.
  • Must be able to work weekends and holidays.
  • Ability to follow the chain of command and deliver exceptional customer service.
  • Physical ability to walk, sit, and stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older or in accordance with state law.
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States.
