Assistant Men's Basketball Coach

About the position

The Assistant Men's Basketball Coach is responsible for assisting with all aspects of coordinating and coaching the Men's Basketball team at Kaskaskia College. This position is classified as contractual/stipend paid, with employment terms set forth in an employment contract. The role involves working closely with the Head Men's Basketball Coach and other athletic department staff to develop a competitive basketball program appropriate for the community college level. The Assistant Coach will also engage in various administrative and operational tasks to support the team and the athletic department.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the development of a competitive Men's Basketball team appropriate for the community college level.
• Assist with monitoring the scholarship program in accordance with College policies.
• Assist in coordinating the use of KC athletic facilities.
• Assist Head coach with recruiting as assigned.
• Assist with inventory and ordering equipment, pursuant to College procedures.
• Understand and abide by NJCAA and Great Rivers Athletic Conference rules and regulations.
• Attend all appropriate GRAC and Region XXIV meetings as assigned by Head Coach.
• Assist with monitoring academic issues with players.
• Assist in coordinating transportation for away games.
• Uphold the positive image of Kaskaskia College by exhibiting professional conduct at all times.
• Perform instructional/student success and related duties as assigned.
• Assist with publicity and community relations functions.
• Support fund raising activities for athletic programs.
• Assist with support organizations for athletics.
• Assist in monitoring athlete housing.
• Assist in ensuring compliance with student athlete code of conduct.
• Work as part of overall athletic team to develop and improve athletic programs.

Requirements

• Associates Degree.
• Previous basketball coaching experience.
• Strong public relations and communication skills (verbal & written).
• Proficiency in organizing and planning.
• Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to teamwork, process leadership, and consensus decision making.
• Possess strong leadership qualities.
• Commitment to the community college mission.
• Demonstrated commitment to supporting and participating in student activities and college events.
• Student oriented.
• Valid Illinois drivers license.
