About the position
The Assistant Men's Basketball Coach at SUNY Ulster is a part-time role focused on supporting the basketball program for the 2024-2025 season. The position involves assisting with recruitment, practice and game preparation, and promoting the program while ensuring compliance with relevant regulations. The coach will work closely with student-athletes and the athletics department, contributing to the overall development and success of the team.
Responsibilities
- Assist with the recruitment of student-athletes on a national and international level.
- Manage the recruiting database of potential recruits.
- Develop and execute a recruiting plan.
- Plan and organize on-campus visits for recruits.
- Assist in all aspects of a NJCAA basketball program, including coaching strategies and student-athlete development.
- Assist in overall program planning and organization.
- Travel with the team to away competitions and coordinate team travel.
- Assist/coordinate social media platforms for the program.
- Assist with alumni events and other administrative duties as assigned.
- Communicate effectively with students, faculty, administration, staff, and alumni.
Requirements
- High School Diploma
- Evidence of strong organizational and communication skills
- Collegiate playing experience
- Ability to interact effectively with student-athletes, colleagues, and the public
- Willingness to participate in fundraising and promotions related to the basketball program
- Commitment to community college goals and objectives, particularly for diverse student populations.
Nice-to-haves
- Previous assistant coaching experience
Benefits
- Salary of $2,000 for the term from October 1st through March 15th annually.
