About the position
The Assistant Middle School Girls Wrestling Coach is responsible for promoting sportsmanship and teamwork while helping students develop the necessary skills to compete in wrestling. This part-time position involves coaching, organizing practices, and ensuring a safe and productive athletic environment for all participants.
Responsibilities
- Coach individual participants in wrestling skills necessary for achievement.
- Plan and schedule regular practice sessions during the season.
- Work with the activities director to schedule contests.
- Recommend purchases of equipment, supplies, and uniforms.
- Maintain attendance forms and insurance records.
- Oversee safety conditions during practices and events.
- Establish performance criteria for eligibility in competitions.
- Enforce discipline and sportsmanship standards among students.
- Supervise student athletes during practices and events.
- Inform building administrator of any injuries or behavior concerns.
Requirements
- Valid Iowa Coaching Authorization or Athletic Coach Endorsement.
- Prior coaching experience preferred.
- Completion of Child Abuse Reporting Training.
- CPR and first aid certified.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience in coaching wrestling at the middle school level.
- Strong communication skills with students and parents.
