About the position

The Assistant Middle School Girls Wrestling Coach is responsible for promoting sportsmanship and teamwork while helping students develop the necessary skills to compete in wrestling. This part-time position involves coaching, organizing practices, and ensuring a safe and productive athletic environment for all participants.

Responsibilities

  • Coach individual participants in wrestling skills necessary for achievement.
  • Plan and schedule regular practice sessions during the season.
  • Work with the activities director to schedule contests.
  • Recommend purchases of equipment, supplies, and uniforms.
  • Maintain attendance forms and insurance records.
  • Oversee safety conditions during practices and events.
  • Establish performance criteria for eligibility in competitions.
  • Enforce discipline and sportsmanship standards among students.
  • Supervise student athletes during practices and events.
  • Inform building administrator of any injuries or behavior concerns.

Requirements

  • Valid Iowa Coaching Authorization or Athletic Coach Endorsement.
  • Prior coaching experience preferred.
  • Completion of Child Abuse Reporting Training.
  • CPR and first aid certified.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in coaching wrestling at the middle school level.
  • Strong communication skills with students and parents.
