About the position

The Assistant National Director (AND) of Operations at AARP Foundation plays a crucial role in overseeing the comprehensive business operations of the Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP). This position is responsible for supervising a team of four managers and ensuring that all operational areas, including financial management, IT, procurement, office leasing, compliance, and logistics, are effectively managed. The AND will work closely with the National Director to monitor overall grant expenditures, ensuring fiscal and program accountability and integrity. This role also involves assisting in the annual stewardship of grant funds and providing direct support to headquarters management as needed. In addition to operational oversight, the AND will serve on the SCSEP leadership team, contributing to strategic decision-making and program development. The position requires a strong understanding of grant contractual requirements, audit and reporting standards, and federal regulations, as well as AARP Foundation SCSEP policies. The AND will be tasked with identifying, investigating, analyzing, and recommending alternative solutions to a wide range of operational, management, and administrative challenges. The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's degree and have at least 5 years of project management experience. They should be adept at adapting new and complex system development methodologies to complex projects and have a solid understanding of the inter-relationships among multiple business subsidiaries and departments. The AND will also need to demonstrate proven leadership abilities, particularly in cross-functional team settings, to achieve business objectives while fostering strong relationships with co-workers and business partners.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the comprehensive business operations of AARP Foundation's Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP).
  • Supervise 4 other managers and ensure effective management of all operational areas.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • 5+ years of project management experience.
  • Ability to adapt new and complex system development methodologies to complex projects.
  • Understanding of multifaceted inter-relationships of multiple business subsidiaries and departments.
  • Knowledge of enterprise technology systems and process management.
  • Proven ability to lead and collaborate in cross-functional teams.
