About the position
The Assistant Nurse Manager for the Progressive Care Unit (PCU) at Allegheny Valley Hospital is responsible for managing, supervising, and coordinating the daily operations of the patient care department. This role provides clinical and administrative leadership, contributing to strategic planning and the attainment of departmental and organizational goals. The position emphasizes leadership, quality patient care, customer satisfaction, financial stewardship, and professional development of staff.
Responsibilities
- Manage and supervise daily operations of the PCU under the direction of the Nurse Manager.
- Role model the mission, vision, and values of the organization.
- Conduct monthly unit conferences and complete annual performance appraisals for associates.
- Promote unit-based shared governance and employee engagement through leadership rounding.
- Identify and implement activities to ensure patient care meets professional standards and safety goals.
- Monitor departmental performance and develop action plans for unmet goals.
- Collaborate with patients, families, and other departments to enhance patient experience.
- Ensure effective implementation of financial plans and maintain budget compliance.
- Foster staff development through coaching, mentoring, and educational opportunities.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
- 1 year of demonstrated clinical leadership experience
- Current State of PA RN licensure or multi-state licensure through the enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC)
- CPR certification
- Act 34, Act 33, and Act 73 background clearance certificates.
