About the position

The Assistant Nurse Manager (ANM) plays a crucial role in facilitating and assisting with nursing care within a unit or practice location. Reporting to the Director, the ANM is responsible for day-to-day problem-solving, communication among care team providers, and ensuring effective patient care delivery. This position involves shift accountability for patient flow, resource allocation, and addressing safety concerns. The ANM also handles administrative duties such as staffing, scheduling, and performance management, while supporting the professional development of nursing staff and maintaining high-quality care standards.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitates and assists with all levels of nursing care provided to patients.
  • Coordinates activities of nursing staff and ensures effective operation of the unit.
  • Conducts daily rounds to address patient, family, and physician concerns.
  • Assesses, coaches, and evaluates staff's clinical practice levels.
  • Coordinates communication between unit team members and attending physicians.
  • Participates in planning and distribution of patient assignments.
  • Maintains ongoing communication with nursing staff and leadership team.
  • Ensures compliance with hospital policies and regulatory standards.
  • Provides direct patient care as needed and evaluates patient status.
  • Monitors staff performance and provides timely feedback.

Requirements

  • Licensed to practice as an RN in Georgia.
  • Professional certification in a clinical or leadership specialty within two years of hire.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or related field.
  • Three years of direct care RN nursing experience in an acute care setting.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's Degree in Nursing or related field within five years of hire.
  • Charge Nurse or supervisory experience.
  • Membership in a professional organization within three months of hire.
