About the position

The Assistant On-Site Dining Manager at the Skirball Cultural Center is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of Zeidler's Café and Judy's Counter, ensuring a high-quality dining experience for guests. This role involves managing staff, maintaining cleanliness and organization, and meeting sales goals while reporting directly to the Vice President of Hospitality and Private Events.

Responsibilities

  • Open and close both Zeidler's Café and Judy's Counter.
  • Supervise and train the server team, ensuring clarity on goals and customer service expectations.
  • Manage shift requirements for labor, customer service, and employee tasks, including front-of-house responsibilities.
  • Maintain an outstanding guest experience while supporting daily sales goals.
  • Provide meaningful advice to the team regarding packaging and tools for selling food and promotional items.
  • Manage a weekly cleaning staff checklist and store maintenance sheets.
  • Create schedules and compile the shift log.
  • Take and confirm reservations via email, telephone, and in-person.
  • Maintain full knowledge of store operations, the current menu, and industry food trends.
  • Oversee opening and closing cash management.

Requirements

  • High school diploma and 3+ years of experience as a shift leader or assistant manager in a bakery, café, or restaurant.
  • At least 21+ years of age.
  • Ability to work under pressure and in a changing environment.
  • Ability to work Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, and Tuesdays, with flexibility for evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Experience taking and managing reservations.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Spanish fluency.
  • Understanding of Jewish dietary laws.

Benefits

  • Starting salary of $65,000 per year.
