About the position

The Assistant Director of Operations will play a crucial role in supporting the implementation of core programs aimed at enhancing practice growth and profitability. This position is pivotal in leading tactical initiatives that ensure the delivery of exceptional patient care. The Assistant Director will work closely with the Director of Operations to evaluate and improve protocols, ensuring that patient care standards and operational efficiencies are maintained or enhanced. This role requires collaboration with both physicians and staff to create optimal workflows that not only prioritize superior patient care but also achieve successful operational results. The Assistant Director will be responsible for identifying opportunities for operational excellence, focusing on increasing revenue while decreasing costs, and utilizing data and research to drive patient care objectives. Additionally, the role involves performing assessments and analyzing results to provide recommendations for model development and practice growth. The Assistant Director will support the daily operations and revenue generation of the company, ensuring its continual growth while maintaining compliance with organizational policies and applicable regulatory guidelines. In terms of staff development, the Assistant Director will support the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the Practice Manager. This includes working with the Operations team to cultivate a staff that is passionate about delivering quality patient care and customer service. The Assistant Director will be responsible for building creative and collaborative teams, developing personnel, and linking performance to overall patient care and practice success. This role also involves guiding and evaluating the work of other employees to ensure a positive working environment, assisting in recruiting, hiring, training, and retaining current and future leaders, and fostering a diverse and inclusive organization. The Assistant Director will promote teamwork by connecting practice leadership and staff to create alignment and focus on patient care and practice growth. Strategically, the Assistant Director will champion the company's culture and commitment to patient care, utilizing service standards and resources to ensure practice success. This includes identifying competitors, expansion opportunities, and new industry developments. The Assistant Director will drive organizational innovation and change, collaborating across the organization to identify needs and develop scalable solutions. They will also partner with Integration leaders to ensure smooth staff onboarding and the implementation of business services. In terms of asset management, the Assistant Director will monitor each practice to ensure a safe, clean, organized, and inviting environment for both patients and staff. This includes performing periodic inventory audits on company assets and executing inventory management and loss prevention policies.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate protocols and implement recommended changes to maintain or improve patient care and operational efficiency.
  • Collaborate with physicians and staff to create optimal flow for superior patient care and successful operating results.
  • Support operational excellence by identifying ways to increase revenue and decrease costs.

  • Ensure all policies, processes, and work instructions are followed at the highest level.

  • Work with the Operations team to cultivate a staff that embraces quality patient care and customer service.
  • Build creative, collaborative teams and develop people linked to patient care and practice success.
  • Guide and evaluate the work of other employees to ensure a positive working environment.
  • Assist in recruiting, hiring, training, and retaining current and future leaders.
  • Proactively recruit, hire, train, and retain Patient Support Specialists.
  • Foster a diverse and inclusive organization and promote teamwork among staff.
  • Participate in the recruitment of qualified management and assist in performance coaching and development for practice managers.
  • Utilize reports and feedback to address and resolve performance opportunities and scheduling efficiencies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business or related field preferred.
  • Previous experience in Optometry/Ophthalmology preferred.
  • Extensive education and experience in general business and organizational operations required.
  • Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong leadership qualities.
