About the position

The Assistant Operations Business Analyst at ISO New England Inc. plays a crucial role in ensuring the reliable operation of the Bulk Electric System through efficient administration of the Wholesale Markets. This position involves collaborating with various teams to design and implement projects that support the integration of distributed energy resources and renewable energy into the electric grid. The role requires strong analytical skills to review and improve existing software and processes, as well as to conduct operational analysis to inform decision-making.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with IT, Project Management, Market Development, and System Operations & Market Administration to design and implement multi-year projects.
  • Perform thorough testing and review of proposed changes to departmental software and processes, while identifying and mitigating gaps pro-actively.
  • Review existing software and processes used by members of the Asset Registration, Market Administration, Auctions, and Capability Auditing groups to identify areas for improvement.
  • Design and perform recurring or ad-hoc data and operational analysis to support sound operational decision making while challenging long standing practices.
  • Assist with the development of internal and external training related to major projects or derived from completed analytical findings.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business, Engineering, or related field.
  • Project management and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work within a team environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate complex concepts in simple terms, both written and verbally.
  • Ability to adapt to shifting priorities.

Nice-to-haves

  • Basic knowledge of ISO New England Day-Ahead and Real-Time Markets.
  • Basic knowledge of ISO New England Auditing processes.
  • Familiarity with Confluence and/or Jira.
  • Knowledge of SQL.
