About the position

The Assistant Parts Manager at Paddock Chevrolet plays a crucial role in ensuring the efficient operation of the parts department. This position involves overseeing staff performance, managing inventory, and maintaining customer satisfaction through effective service delivery. The Assistant Parts Manager is responsible for training and motivating the team, establishing pricing strategies, and ensuring timely processing of parts to support the service department and customers.

Responsibilities

  • Hires, trains, motivates, counsels, and monitors the performance of all parts department staff.
  • Maintains a balanced inventory consistent with the requirements of the service department, wholesale accounts, and the do-it-yourself public.
  • Establishes pricing parameters in each customer category that generate sufficient gross profit while maintaining customer loyalty.
  • Monitors and adjusts inventory to minimize obsolescence.
  • Establishes individual parts inventory levels and balances them for maximum turnover.
  • Works with the service manager to ensure a timely turnaround of parts needed for internal jobs and various other tasks.
  • Directs shipping and receiving efforts to ensure timely processing.
  • Analyzes departmental operations and storage layout and revises as needed for maximum effectiveness.
  • Understands any and all of General Motors parts programs.
  • Provides technical assistance to parts department employees.
  • Handles customer complaints immediately and according to the dealership's guidelines.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
  • Takes advantage of all manufacturers' inventory co-op advertising.
  • Directs outside parts and counter sales efforts, including a telemarketing program to keep in contact with customers.

Requirements

  • Mid-level experience in parts management or a related field.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent customer service and communication abilities.
  • Ability to analyze inventory and sales data for effective decision-making.
  • Familiarity with General Motors parts programs.

Nice-to-haves
