About the position

The Assistant Payroll Manager at Benchmark Human Services plays a crucial role in supporting the Payroll Manager with the daily operations of the payroll department. This position is responsible for processing multistate payroll for over 3000 employees, ensuring compliance with tax regulations, and maintaining payroll accuracy. The role emphasizes the importance of confidentiality and integrity in handling payroll information, while also contributing to a diverse and inclusive workplace culture.

Responsibilities

• Process multistate payroll for 3000+ employees.
• Process, pay, and reconcile multistate payroll taxes, ensuring timely federal, state, and local tax filings and payments.
• Provide support with the execution of payroll in accordance with defined processes.
• Process and maintain all garnishment, child support, and wage withholding orders.
• Research and process all non-discretionary bonuses.
• Process Flexible Spending Accounts.
• Assist Payroll Manager in processing W-2s.
• Handle special assignments as assigned by the Payroll Manager.
• Resolve payroll discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information.
• Maintain payroll information by collecting, calculating, and entering data.
• Protect payroll operations by keeping information confidential.
• Report any suspected abuse, neglect, or exploitation immediately.

Requirements

• At least three (3) years of payroll experience.
• Management experience preferred.
• Associate's Degree in Accounting preferred.
• Excellent organizational skills.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Experience with Microsoft Office applications.
• Attention to detail and ability to multi-task.
• Strong time management skills.
