About the position

As an Assistant Planner at SAFEbuilt, you will be joining a dynamic team of innovators and overachievers dedicated to enhancing the communities we serve. Your primary responsibilities will include conducting zoning plan reviews for building permits to ensure compliance with land development regulations. You will also perform onsite zoning inspections to verify that the issued building permits align with municipal regulations. Collaborating with a consulting team, you will assist in amending zoning ordinances and addressing special zoning topics. Additionally, you will coordinate development review projects, working closely with both internal divisions and external referral agencies. Preparing staff reports for Planning Boards and City Commission meetings will also be a key part of your role, providing essential information to municipal clients. Responsibilities

  • Complete zoning plan reviews for building permits for compliance with land development regulations.
  • Perform onsite zoning inspections to ensure compliance with the building permit issued and municipal land development regulations.
  • Work as part of a consulting team on amendments to zoning ordinances, special zoning topics, and related projects.
  • Assist with development review projects, coordinating both internal and external divisions and referral agencies.
  • Prepare staff reports for Planning Boards and City Commission meetings for municipal clients.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in planning or related field.
  • AICP Certification preferred but not required.
  • Experience in planning and zoning or related field.
  • Consulting experience is a plus.
