The Assistant Planner position at the Governor's Office of Land Use and Climate Innovation (GO-LUCI) is a critical role that supports a variety of assignments involving research, policy and data analysis, and contributions to planning guidance and technical advisories across a wide spectrum of topics that affect planning and climate in California. Under the direction of the Planning and Land Use Manager, the Assistant Planner will engage with other state agencies, local governments, and public stakeholders to address issues related to land use, housing, climate resiliency and adaptation, conservation, open space planning, equitable and inclusive communities, environmental justice, and transportation. This position is essential for developing and maintaining technical guidelines and advisories for the interpretation and implementation of California state laws, as well as reviewing and analyzing proposed housing, land use, transportation, and conservation bills. The Assistant Planner will provide technical assistance to local governments and other stakeholders, collaborating with research institutes and other state agencies to develop effective data strategies and policies that align with California's priorities in addressing climate and planning issues. The role also involves conducting interagency coordination and collaboration to review data, plans, policies, and strategies of other agencies, while engaging them to review GO-LUCI's plans and documents. Soliciting input from local government and a variety of stakeholders for the guidelines, technical advisories, and strategic plans created by GO-LUCI is also a key responsibility of this position. The Assistant Planner will work in a standard office environment, utilizing personal computers and office equipment, and may be eligible for telework in accordance with the GO-LUCI Telework Policy.
